SUNDAY, January 11th at 1:00 p.m. the Opelila-Auburn News and the Alabama Community Healthy Marriage Program have teamed up as sponsors for the 2009 BRIDAL EXPO at the Grand Mariott National Lodge and 
Conference Center . This annual event has been presented by the OA News since 2000, catering to brides-to-be with dozens of professional vendors, offering ideas and services for the wedding day. This year is more exciting than ever, with the co-sponsoring by the Alabama Community Healthy Marriage Program, who are providing professional speakers to present two, information and inspiration-packed talks, in support of healthy relationships and the concept of forever : "Keep Your Marriage Sizzling" and "Keys To Blissful Communication."
I had a chance to speak with Melissa Blackburn, the marketing coordinator for the OA News who organized the Expo. Her bubbling enthusiasm had me smiling as she described another new item for the expo, being the GROOMS LOUNGE! That's right, this is going to be fun for BOTH the brides and grooms-to be! These guys will be able to "lounge" with a golf expert (who will share tips to improve anyone's game), sports on a big screen, some refreshments and fun.
Vendors will cover photography, jewelry, catering and cakes, invitations, venues and lodging, music, rentals, and, of course, bridal gowns! Brides-to-Be are eligible for $5000 in Door Prizes! A beautiful Clothes Rack Fashion Show begins at 4:00. Tickets for the entire afternoon event are $8 at the door. For more info about the expo, visit their website.

This event comes on the heels of HEALTHY MARRIAGE Month in the state of Alabama, designated as February by Alabama Governor Bob Riley and Mrs. Patsy Riley. This brand new year brought the sudden passing away of ALLAN HORWITZ, a fellow colleague, REALTOR®, and a man that everyone who knew him felt honored to call a friend. He loved the Lee County 
area and had a wonderful enthusiasm and knowledge for the community and neighborhoods, considered to be a resident expert by many in the real estate industry. Behind his service and craft was an immense library of knowledge and experience, along with an index of illustrations and applicable scenarios that polished encounters, transactions, and the lives of those who sought his leadership. For those of us who had the privilege of working closely with him, he was recognized as a man who stood IN HIS JOY with the daily transaction of Life... with the give and take, with the deal and the play--- especially in the world of real estate. His wisdom, candor, compassion and daily example made him a natural coach and mentor for so many. He was always about LISTENING and doing the right thing, SHOWING UP and getting it done...and regularly pausing for coffee and conversation with his friends and colleagues---who were everywhere.
ALLAN provided unparalleled service for this community, including serving on the State & Local Professional Standards Committee and as President of Lee County Association of Realtors®.
Oh how terribly we will miss you Allan! A LIGHT has gone out in LEE
COUNTY, but you have left the world a BRIGHTER PLACE. You were one of the elite in the BIG LEAGUE, where you were a true champion --with the most natural dignity and greatest humility...you made your LIFE a HOME RUN.

A Business Plan for 2009 will be in good order when we all come together next week for our first office meeting of the new year. So many people on ACTIVE RAIN have shared some of their goals and planning elements, and most importantly, many have shared the most important thing for making it all work ---the 
mindset...the attitude. When hundreds of people are already believing, already planning on, reinforcing that 2009 is going to be THE BEST YEAR EVER--- WOW! There is such a power...a true force that seems to carry my spirit right along with the certainty. I'm more confident and inspired because of all of you---moreso than I could have been by myself. I just want to say THANK YOU to my customers and clients who keep me motivated, and all of you, DREAMING OF THE BEST YEAR EVER! I'm planning on it!
